About Beatriz

Originally from Spain, where she grew up and studied piano at the conservatory from an early age, she has been based in Düsseldorf, Germany, since 2012, when she began trainig and performing Taiko (Japanese drums) with the group Shin Daiko and later on with Wadokyo Performance Team. Currently she is a member of the semi-professional ensemble Feniks Taiko in Belgium.

Besides Taiko, Beatriz is deeply committed to research and artistic. exploration, consistently seeking to move beyond conventions while fostering meaningful connections through music. Guided by this approach, she frequently collaborates with musicians and artists from diverse disciplines, valuing both contrast and the creative synergies that emerge from these encounters.

She is always eager to learn and further develop her skills. To this end, she frequently travels to Japan, where she trains with renowned wadaiko teams and sensei. In Europe, she also regularly participates in workshops and training sessions with well-known taiko players.

Among others, Beatriz has developed her skills thanks to:

  • Josef Lang, Ulla Hillebrecht, Irene Prasch (Shindaiko)

  • Frank Dubberke, Jeanette Petersen (Wadokyo)

  • Grete Moortgat (Feniks Taiko)

  • Masataka Kobayashi and the BONTEN Japanese Drums Team (Tokyo)

  • Art Lee (Wadaiko Tokara, Iida)

  • Yoshie Abe, Tomohiro Mitome, Chieko Kojima, Issei Kohira (KODŌ, Sado Island)

  • Shogo Yoshii (Yokohama)

  • Kaoly Asano (GOCOO and TAWOO, Tokyo)

  • Kazuhiro Tsumura (Tokyo, Miyake Island)

  • Machiko Asano (Hono-O-Daiko, Ishikawa)

  • Yoshio Okuyama (Hachijo Island)

  • Getsoyukai (Hachijo Island)

  • Yuta Kato (Asano Taiko US)

  • Shoji Kameda (Kadon)

  • Eri Uchida (Kadon)

  • Takuya Taniguchi

  • Yoshiyuki Kimura

  • Martin Doyle and Shonagh Walker (Tsuchigumo Daiko)

and many more.

Beatriz loves playing taiko just as much as she loves sharing her knowledge and connecting with others through taiko. After her training period at Mirai Taiko Dojo with Masataka Kobayashi and the BONTEN Japanese Drums Team in 2023–2024, she initiated the BONTEN Class in Düsseldorf in 2025. This class brings together taiko players from diverse backgrounds to explore and enjoy the style and selected compositions of BONTEN. She has many more projects in mind and cannot wait to share further exciting experiences with wonderful taiko people all around the world!
